Show Appreciation on Administrative Professionals Day
Administrative Professionals Day is a great opportunity to celebrate the hard work and dedication of the administrative team members in your workplace. Sometimes, the behind-the-scenes and admin tasks these team members take on can become a thankless job but the work they do keeps businesses and teams running smoothly.
First, let's cover what you definitely should not do to celebrate your team members:
Don't sound generic. Whatever form of appreciation you decide to do should show thought and sincerity.
Don't highlight one administrative member. This day is about all administrative team members. Save contests, competitions, and employee of the month recognitions for a different moment.
Don't reward them with more work. Skill development and training can sometimes be an amazing thing to receive. Though, if this is important to you, incorporate it into your budget on a different line item that is not related to saying "thank you" to your employees.
Here are to show your appreciation that make your team feel a bit more special:
Provide a simple surprise: this doesn't need to be complicated. If your team is in the office, small flowers, chocolates, or other treats that are in line with your culture are a great easy gift.
Send personal notes or thank you videos: I'd recommend making this a handwritten note or card, though an ecard may also do the trick. Just be sure to avoid mistake #1 mentioned above and make each note personal to that team member.
Create a gift basket: Gift baskets are a fun way to show appreciation and allow you to get creative. You can include small gifts like coffee mugs, snacks, books, and desk trinkets.
Host a team lunch: Either cater lunch at the office or send Uber Eats lunches to everyone's home and host a Zoom meeting.
Host a team-building activity: Whether it's an in-office scavenger hunt or a virtual escape room, these activities are a fun way for everyone to take a break!
Offer extra time off: Who doesn't like a day off? Though, be sure to allow your employees to choose when they get to take their day and make it a paid day off.
Personally, I like to send out a "How Should We Celebrate You" survey to my team so that each thank you gift feels personal to them. Whatever your budget, there are simple yet sincere ways to show your team you appreciate them!
